Two days ago, we told our readers about a job fair that Yorkdale was hosting to discover talented young workers for 250 retail positions for the new 21 stores in Yorkdale’s new expansion wing.  We were shocked to see how popular the post was, generating thousands of clicks to our website.  With the interest we saw on our end it’s no surprise to hear that the CBC is reporting that over 1,000 people showed up for the job fair.

The huge interest highlights the fact that it has not been a good summer for job seekers in Toronto. The CBC article highlights that the reason could be due to the fact that the Canadian economy lost 71,400 full-time jobs -the highest one-month decline since 2011.

The article goes on to highlight that according to statistics Canada there were 28,000 fewer jobs for people aged 15-24, making it increasingly difficult for young people to find quality work.

All of the above just shows that if you are young, finding a job, even a retail job can be challenging. Good luck to everyone out there looking for work. Due to the popularity of the post, we will be releasing more job fair opportunities in the retail world.
