For the downtown folks that are too lazy to schlep up to Yorkville or Yorkdale for their Anthropologie fix, we’ve got good news! BlogTO recently reported that an Anthropologie location will be permanently popping up in the second coolest neighbourhood in the world – Queen St. West! The new store is supposedly set to open in December at 761 Queen St. West, a converted church that is currently home to non-profits like Community Bicycle Network and the Raging Spoon.

Currently, the neighbourhood is home to a number of independent retailers and another big name could mean trouble for them. A similar situation played out when Joe Fresh announced their opening up at Queen St. West and Portland St. in 2011. Many downtown dwellers were disgruntled by the ongoing gentrification of the neighbourhood and worry of stolen sales stirred up mixed emotions from surrounding independents. We’re sure many people will have the same feelings about the super feminine clothing & homeware retailer, Anthropologie.

Do you think Anthropologie coming to Queen Street West is a good thing? Yay or Nay? Comment below!
