Decisions, decisions, decisions. With so many retailers opening up in Canada, our options for shopping are endless and the influx of international retailers moving into our territory isn’t stopping anytime soon.

With all of the big-name brands entering the market, these are the retailers we’re most excited to see open in the GTA:

UNIQLO

Canadians have been long awaiting the opening of popular Japanese retailer, UNIQLO. Known for their multicoloured basics, speculation that the retailer would open in Canada began back in 2014. Confirmation of the opening of one store came later in the Spring of 2015 and it has since been confirmed that UNIQLO will be opening two locations in Toronto: one in CF Eaton Centre on September 30th and another in Yorkdale Shopping Centre on October 20th.

For those looking to get a sneak peek at the collection, it will be available to pre-shop at The Drake General Store from September 10-25th.

Nordstrom

Over the past few years, Canada has had an influx of American retailers looking to make their way across the border. Luxury retailers have had their eyes set on Canada and Nordstrom is one of them. The retailer, who specialises in high and mid-priced fashion and is best known for their customer service, will be opening two Toronto locations within the next couple of months. The first location will open at CF Eaton Centre on September 16th and the second location will open at Yorkdale Shopping Centre come October 21st. Both locations will be hosting grand galas in anticipation of their openings. You can purchase tickets here.

In addition to clothing, footwear and accessories, it is said that Nordstrom will also bring a variety of services (including personal stylists, beauty stylists, mobile checkout, certified shoe & bra fitters, free wifi, a mother’s lounge & more), plus new food/dining concepts which include (confirmed for the Yorkdale location) the Bazille Restaurant, Habitant Lounge and coffee concept, ‘Ebar’.

Urban Decay

Beauty mavens, make room in your makeup drawers because Urban Decay is finally opening Canadian stores! Rumours began circulating a couple of years ago and after seeing major success in the Canadian market, the cosmetics brand confirmed they would be opening their first Canadian stores this year. Canada’s first standalone Urban Decay store will open in Burnaby, BC this September, while the location we’re most excited about – the GTA location – is slated to open at Mississauga’s Square One Shopping Centre in November 2016. No exact date has been confirmed for the GTA location but we’ll keep you updated.

Chanel

After 26-years, Chanel will be vacating their location on Bloor St. in Toronto. And while the Mink Mile location is being abandoned, there is no need to fret. The French luxury brand will be relocating to an even larger space, just two blocks north.

Taking over the old Teatro Verde location on Yorkville Ave., it is said that many luxury retailers are looking to move off of Bloor St. and into Yorkville as the neighbourhood grows more affluent. The store is slated to open January of 2017.

Nordstrom Rack

With the growing success of the Nordstrom Warehouse Sale, it is clear there is room for Nordstrom Rack in Canada! Speculation that Nordstrom’s off-price retail store would open in Canada began with the launch of their first Canadian store back in 2014. Unfortunately for Canadians, the opening dates were pushed and it was confirmed that the first Nordstrom Rack location will not open until 2018.

Nordstrom Rack’s first Canadian location will open in Toronto at One Bloor, standing at 38,600-square-feet and scheduled to open in 2018. The company plans to open as many as 20 Canadian locations, with each location stocking merchandise from its full line stores (as opposed to made-for-outlet clothing) at 30-70% off regular retail prices. A second GTA-based Nordstrom Rack location is scheduled to open at Vaughan Mills in Spring 2018.

Did we miss any of the most anticipated store openings in the GTA?
