Beauty Essentials for RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest
This weekend, I’ll be heading to Ottawa to cover the RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest! It will be my first music festival of the summer and I am so excited to soak up the sun with my friends at Lebreton Flats. This year, the festival began on July 3 and it runs until to July 13, 2014 – 10 music packed days of excitement! Unfortunately I missed performances by Lady GaGa, Tokyo Police Club, Danny Brown, Journey, and more that took place earlier this month, but I still get to see tons of other performances by artists like Blondie, Snoop Dogg, Young the Giant, Barenaked Ladies, Childish Gambino, and the Sam Roberts Band (see the full lineup here). Sound like something you’d love to check out? Tickets are still available and can be bought here!
With every music festival I attend, I get better and better at packing for them. One year I forgot to bring sunscreen – huge mistake! This year, I’m coming prepared with Garnier Ombrelle Dry Mist which comes in SPF 30 & 60. It’s super easy to spray on, plus it’s not too big or heavy and can easily fit into my small Gucci Disco Bag (similar here)! With sun care, I’m always sure to bring after sun care as well. I stopped by The Body Shop and stocked up on a pocket sized Aloe Soothing Gel which acts as an instant rescue when my skin is feeling dry & hot from the sun. As a quick refresher for my face during the day, I like to apply The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz and Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet to hydrate my skin in the morning and at night – which smells delicious!
As for make-up, I like to keep it pretty light. I’m planning on doing a lot of dancing which equates to lots of sweating under the sun. To keep my make-up from sweating right off my face, I turn to the Big & Curvy Waterproof Mascara, which I find is way less clumpy than drugstore brands I’ve tried and still adds length to my lashes! The rest of my face will stay pretty bare except for a pop of colour in a lipstick to match my outfits of the weekend (which will be up on the site soon!) Some of my favourite brands of lip-wear are Colour Crush (which I’ve reviewed here) and the tinted lip balm, Maybelline Baby Lips. The Colour Crush lipsticks are long lasting and come in a variety of shades – I’m bringing along Fuchsia Flirt and Sunset Romance which are on sale right now for $6.50!
Now that I’ve packed up my beauty supplies, I’m almost ready to go dance and enjoy the RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest atmosphere! Keep an eye out on the blog and StyleDemocracy’s Instagram account, where I’ll recap my favourite shows, outfits, and food!
