Next year is Canada’s 150th birthday and we think a celebration is in order. Who’s invited you might ask? Literally everyone according to Lonely Planet! They just named Canada the top country to travel to in 2017.

Besides, being Trump-free and full of utterly polite and apologetic people, we the north have a lot of good things to offer. Lonely Planet even went so far as to praise Canada for, “dynamic cities that dominate global livability indices and a reputation for inclusiveness and impeccable politeness.”

In addition to this, we have a young, good-looking Prime Minister that millennials love, who has been credited for beginning a “wave of positivity” across the country. Not that we weren’t happy before, but we’re in an even better mood now.

We also scored pretty good in terms of what you can eat here too with our, “exciting fusion food and mysteriously underrated wine.” Take Toronto, for example… Walking just one block in a vibrant neighbourhood like Kensington Market gives your taste buds the opportunity to travel the world.

All that paired with our weak dollar, makes us a pretty appealing destination, eh? So thanks, Lonely Planet, and sorry to all other countries in the running.

Here is the complete list of the top 10 countries to travel to in 2017:

  1. Canada
  2. Colombia
  3. Finland
  4. Dominica
  5. Nepal
  6. Bermuda
  7. Mongolia
  8. Oman
  9. Myanmar (Burma)
  10. Ethiopia
