I won’t lie. Rolling up to a club with my favourite gal pals and breaking out into choreographed dance is a big dream of mine. So when I had the opportunity to round up a gang of friends and bust a move to whatever artist I desired, I hopped on it.
Located at 580 King St. West in Toronto, Elle Fitness and Social is a women’s only fitness studio that offers a bevy of different classes. From Hottie Body Boxing to Bikini Boot Camp, all classes are catered to tone the female bod. What some may not know about the studio, however, is that they also offer private workshops.
Perfect for a girl’s night out, birthday or bachelorette, Elle Fitness hosts these private workshops after hours for groups sized anywhere from 8 to 100. While my crew of 8 chose to learn professional choreography set to the tune of Drake’s One Dance, party-goers can step to the artist of their choosing – whether it’s Beyonce, Justin Bieber or a different musician – or themed class like Coyote Ugly, Burlesque or Striptease, to name a few. Afterwards, all you need to focus on are the moves and whether you’d like to spring for the $45/per person workshop (just the dance class) or the $65/per person workshop which includes post-workout cocktails.
And a workout it sure is. A professional dance instructor will lead your group (you can let them know if you’re novice or intermediate level) and teach you moves step-by-step. You’ll get sweaty and in the case of One Dance, really feel the burn in your thighs from all the winding and grinding.
If you can’t find a group of 8 or more, Elle Fitness also hosts 2-hour workshops every Saturday and Sunday. This month, the roster includes Despacito by Luis Fonsi ft. Justin Bieber, Humble by Kendrick Lamar, Passionfruit by Drake, and more. Get the full schedule here.
