If you are a regular Uber user, this news is for you. Uber has recently announced that they haver lowered prices in over 100 Canadians and U.S. cities. According to the Uber blog, January is a slow month for the car service company and hopes that reducing fares will increase demand.

The blog highlights the fact that seasonality affects most business’ and Uber is no different.

“It’s January, and for most people that means bad weather, staying in, and saving money. Yes, seasonality affects every business, and Uber is no exception because when people hunker down at home, demand for rides drops. Fewer trips are tough on drivers, many of whom want to save money and pay off their holiday credit card bills now that January is here. ” – Uber Blog

Essentially, like every other business out there, Uber is running a promotion to encourage riders to use the service. Just remember that if you are out and about and trying to decide whether to take public transit, a taxi or Uber, Uber may be one of the cheaper options, especially with reduced fares.
