The end of Marc Jacobs design era at Louis Vuitton has finally come. After 16 successful years, he held an extravagant last show for Paris Fashion Week last week. While you may be reading this asking how this applies to you, I’m here to tell you that this might be the beginning of a monumental shift for you and Marc Jacobs fans across the globe! The influential designer is leaving Louis Vuitton in order to develop a long-term strategy for Marc Jacobs international that is said to include an IPO.

The industry is buzzing with ideas that this may mean the start of more affordable Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs and additional brand extension lines. If this rumour is true, it could be the start of a monumental shift for luxury brands. While designer collaborations with mass retailers (ie. Isabel Marant x H&M) are nothing new, we could see a chain reaction of designers making luxury designs at affordable price-points for everyone. For now we’ll just have to wait and see, but here’s to hoping!
