A couple of weeks ago, we spotlighted BRIKA, an online destination for independent designers & artists that specializes in highly giftable products such as home, jewellery, and accessories. Right now, they’ve got a pop-up shop at the Hudson’s Bay flagship (who is celebrating their 344th anniversary today!) and they’ve got an amazing initiative that we just had to share with our readers!

BRIKA has teamed up with The Shoebox Project to ensure that mothers of all walks of life get the appreciation they deserve on Mother’s Day. The Shoebox project was founded in 2011 by four sisters-in-law and donates shoeboxes filled with little luxuries to women in shelters across the country. Last December, The Shoebox Project actually gifted boxes to 9,100 women in 188 shelters in Canada!

For today and tomorrow (May 2-3), BRIKA has turned their pop-up shop inside the HBC store on Queen Street into a drop-off location for Shoeboxes for Mother’s Day. We’re encouraging you to drop by the store with an already-filled shoebox or make a donation in-store. The Shoebox Project will ensure that every box donated will be delivered to a women at a shelter in time for Mother’s Day. As a special incentive, everybody who drops off a box or donates will receive 15% off their BRIKA purchase!
