Reinventing the Candian Tuxedo with the 3.1 Phillip Lim Denim Capsule
I’ve had a love affair with denim ever since I’ve been old enough to wear it. My obsession started with osh kosh b’gosh, Gap, and Levi’s and it has evolved with my personal style. One of my favourite collections for spring is Balmain’s SS14 collection that features quilted, houndstooth, and embellished denim, but if you’re looking for a denim collection that’s a bit more understated, then you must check out Phillip Lim’s denim capsule.
Yesterday, Lim released a denim capsule that features 12 styles with prices ranging from $195 to $895. The collection easily translates into the modern wardrobe and features Lim’s famous motorcycle jacket, a blazer, trench coats, and tailored pants. “I have always used denim in the collections—it is really intrinsic to the way we dress. Everyone can relate to denim, so I wanted to refashion it for our lifestyle,” the designer told Style.com. Everything about the collection (and those shoes!) is incredibly crisp and polished – it’s not your typical Canadian tuxedo!
