Customer service is everything these days! With the retail game in Canada being so competitive, stores must strive to provide shoppers with a unique product, at the right price, alongside superior customer service in order to generate loyalty. Despite the importance of customer service, it’s hard to come by with every retailer. More often than none, a retailer’s level of customer service is aligned with their price point… however, this is not always the case. We’ve lined up our picks for a variety of retailers with the best customer service.

Sephora

When was the last time you walked into a Sephora and left empty handed? This retail beauty mecca offers the ultimate customer experience with a wide array of products, endless samples and new technical beauty tools around every corner. Most beneficial of all in-store elements are the knowledgeable and passionate sales associates who can pair you up with the perfect product to suit your needs and skin type. Customer perks like a rewards program, free makeovers, and exclusive sales add up to an impressive and immersive shopping experience difficult for other beauty retailers to duplicate.

Frank + Oak

If you haven’t stepped foot into a Frank and Oak store before, you’re missing out! This retail experience combines a traditional (but laid back,) retail store with a community space. Here, you can sip on an espresso at your leisure or grab a haircut and beard trim. Frank and Oak’s in-store operations seamlessly blend art and technology to create an eclectic and personalized shopping environment for customers. If you’re looking for a more customized service, easily book an appointment online for a one-hour in-store session with a personal stylist.

Well.ca

We love Well.ca! This online retailer of all things health, wellness, baby and beauty-related has a never-ending inventory of products. Well.ca’s pricing is comparable to (if not better than,) most chain drugstores and health food stores, but eliminates the fuss of having to investigate product labels for key ingredients or restrictions. Shipping times are fast and efficient with email notifications every step of the way. When we called Well.ca’s Customer Care phone number to remove an item from our online order, we received a pick-up instantly from a real live customer service representative. Can you believe it? What service!

Aritzia

Offering exceptional service is embedded into Aritzia’s foundation as an innovative fashion retailer. Walk into any Aritzia location and instantly receive the attention of a beckoning sales associate looking to assist you side-by-side as you shop. While these same employees may be a bit of a nuisance, they aim to please and can assist with every customer need from checking inventory at other store locations to recommending alterations provided by Artizia’s free tailoring service. Loyal Aritzia shoppers gain score the best customer services like early access to online and in-store sales before marked down merchandise is picked through.

Do you agree with our list of retailers with the best customer service? Who would you add?

  • Adora Tsang

Sephora is known to discriminate Asians. I spent over $400 in 2014 and they didn’t give me VIB status. I went thought months of customer service and they just keep rejecting me! Until I posted the complain on their Twitter. The Twitter manager told me to contact customer service, but I already had! I even sent snail mail to headquarters! I refused to delete the Tweet, and send my account number to the Twitter manager and ask them to work on it. In October 2015, 3 months after the complain, I finally got VIB.

Have you ever fight for something for so long, by the time you get it, you no longer want it? I don’t feel like shipping at Sephora anymore. I have a strong suspicion my chinky last name was a problem.

Can’t agree with Aritzia having good customer service. Their return policy is awful and any store who’s greeter is a security guard is definitely not getting high marks from me for service!
