Located in the heart of Toronto’s Fashion District lays one of the most iconic and successful independent sneaker stores in Canada. For over 20 years, Getoutside has been offering Toronto shoppers the best selection of classic and trendy footwear. Originally known for one of the largest selections of Converse and Vans shoes, Getoutside is really much more than that. The store has been a stalwart in the Queen West community for the past two decades and caters to Toronto’s hip and fashion forward, unintentionally becoming a cultural hub.
Over the years, dozens of Getoutside’s helpful and energetic staff have gone on to do great things for Toronto’s arts, marketing and entertainment industries. This is partly due to the intangible aura that is Getoutside. It’s something that is hard to explain in words and must be experienced. The aura around the store is due to a perfect blend of the location, cool and knowledgeable staff, a commitment to quality and a storied history.
Owned by Doug Malcolmson, Getoutside truly has everything a shoe lover could want. From the previously mentioned classics like Vans and Converse to high-end Frye Boots, to contemporary brands like Native Shoes, Getoutside’s product mix is probably the best in the city. The store, through Mr. Malcomson’s direction, has always had a knack for spotting under-the-radar footwear and making them popular. During Vans revival 10 years ago, one of the only places you get could classic era Vans was at Getoutside. Do you remember the boat shoe craze 5 years ago? You better believe Getoutside had one of the biggest Sperry Topsiders Collections in the city. When Hunter Boots were must-haves, Getoutside was first.
Next time you decide to do some shopping in the Queen West area, take look in Getoutside. With knowledgeable staff and everything from top-brand sneakers, boots and sandals, Getoutside is a must visit for any footwear lover.
If you can’t make it all the way downtown, Getoutside also has an uptown Toronto location located at 3456 Yonge street. While it doesn’t have the same cool downtown vibe as the Queen Street West location, the uptown location carries every brand the downtown location does and boast a huge 4,000 sq ft. shoe floor.
