The early bird gets the worm, but is it worth it? Our eye on the street is reporting that shoppers have already begun to line up for the Balmain x H&M collection at H&M’s Bloor Street location in Toronto. The crazy thing about this is that the collection doesn’t officially get released until November 5th, 2015, which means the shoppers we spoke to are preparing to camp out  two nights to get their hands on the highly coveted collection.

While there have been huge lines for H&M collabs before, it just highlights how popular fast fashion collaborations still are.  Popular websites like StyleCaster have previously reported that luxury designer fast fashion collaborations are on the decline with surplus stock either having to be discounted, or purchased in much smaller quantities.  It’s reported that although the Alexander Wang x H&M collaboration sold out, H&M ordered 40% less stock than they had previously ordered for other designer collabs.

So the jury is out, and we will just have to wait to find out if in fact the Balmain x H&M Collection is a success, but if the shoppers already waiting in line are a predictor of anything, you better come prepared to wait in line with hundreds of other people to get your hands on the latest collab.

Pro tip: If you really want the collaboration and don’t want to wait outside in line, we suggest hitting up Yorkdale which doesn’t have an exterior entrance to H&M making camping pointless as everyone will have the same opportunity to get the collaboration when the mall opens. The only downside is that you will have to wake up very early to  beat the rush.
