Street Style Tips from WMCFW
I know, I know. You’re probably tired of hearing about fashion week but I have just one more tidbit of knowledge to share with you guys. While the runway shows are the main attraction at World MasterCard Fashion week, it’s usually the audience that’s the most exciting to watch. Come Fashion Week, Toronto’s most stylish come out of hiding and they bring their A-game to the streets. We took fashion inspiration from people we spotted outside of the tents and turned their unique looks into tips you can incorporate into your person style. Check out some of our favourite street style looks below and step up your game this fall with these 5 tips.
1. Keep Lines and Colours Clean The two toned trend has been alive forever with colour-blocking becoming a routine part of stylish girls & guys outfits everywhere. While traditional colour schemes such as red & blue and orange & burgundy are great, it’s time to start thinking outside the box. This cream and forest green outfit is a sleek way to showcase your kit’s clean lines and tailored fit in a fun and effortless way.
2. Wear White after Labour DayWhere to start! From the knit bouclé jacket to the teal & bubble gum pink colour scheme, this street style star nailed it. Who said you couldn’t wear white after Labour Day? That pastels are only for spring and summer? This look proves that rules are meant to be bent and twisted. The pants on the man on the right show that one standout piece can transform an otherwise ordinary outfit into something spectacular.
A lot of people think that the key to getting your style snapped is to wear loud prints or to have latest bag. This outfit is the perfect example of how wearing well-made basics and being comfortable in your own skin are the keys to being stylish.
4. Add a Pop of Colour Style Democracy’s own Digital Director, Grayson Miller, shows us that a pop of colour can bring an otherwise neutral outfit to life & that investing in a quality bag is a must for men.
5. Mixing TrendsMy friend, Aprille Balsom, the visual merchandiser at Brandy Melville exemplifies an effortless cool style that draws inspiration from trends such as grunge & bohemian. From the oversized flannel to the sleek motorcycle jacket, this is an excellent example of how mixing silhouettes in a fun way can be the perfect look for the season. Her friend, Heather, also does an expert job of mixing trends such as floral and leather in a chic, yet uncluttered way. Mixing trendy pieces with classic styles is a great way to build your wardrobe while showcasing your personality.
