Nowadays, retailers are dropping like flies. It’s sad to say but it’s not every day we see a retailer hit their 40-year mark, let alone, a Canadian retailer. Swimco has defied those odds.

Founded back in 1975, Swimco had humble beginnings, starting as a mail-order swimwear company run out of a basement. Today, the swimwear retailer is still family run, headed by President Lori Bacon (who’s mother founded the company), and has over 20 stores across Canada, including a brand new location in Square One Shopping Centre.

The store is Ontario’s first introduction to Swimco and their core value of ensuring that every customer feels confident in their swimwear. Their motto, Feel Good Half Naked, can be found on the mirrors of their change rooms but it’s their Swimsuit Experts that bring help and give the extra confidence boost so many of us need when shopping swimwear.

The change rooms at Swimco

Each expert is carefully trained on the fits and styles of Swimco’s offerings. Their knowledge allows them to curate a fitting room experience that is not only pleasant but extremely helpful in showing what works and does not work for one’s body, ensuring, again, that each individual that walks out of the change room feels good half naked.

The change rooms themselves are big and bright with plenty of room to move in-and-out of swimwear quickly.

With over 150 brands in-stores, including Seafolly, Body Glove, Ralph Lauren, Miraclesuit and more, Swimco really does have something for everyone with dedicated sections to athletes, big busts, men, children, full and straight sizes.

Their offerings also include accessories such as sun care, goggles, hats, and footwear, and multifaceted apparel that can be taken from the beach to the streets.

Inside Swimco

While Swimco Square One is the retailer’s first Ontario location, they recently opened a location in London, Ontario at Masonville mall, and there are plenty of other Ontario locations in the works.
