If there’s something weird and it don’t look good, who you gonna call? Ghost… Actually, most likely your closest friend or Google, because is there anything Google doesn’t know?
Google recently gathered all of most popular apparel searches from January 2014 to January 2015 to build an inaugural fashion trend report. The statistics were taken from their most popular apparel searches in the United States and dumped into two categories: rising and declining, and 6 subcategories: sustained growth, seasonal growth, rising stars, sustained decline, seasonal decline and falling stars.
According to Google, the most popular search queries were for waist trainers, jogger pants, palazzo pants, tulle skirts and midi skirts, while rising star trends include neoprene swimsuits, emoji shirts, kale sweatshirts (thanks, Beyonce!) and high neck bikini tops.
On the decline trends included one shoulder dresses, peplum dresses, string bikinis and vintage clothing, while falling star trends include normcore fashion (what!?), 90s jeans, scarf vests and zoo jeans.
The report delves deeper into each category and breaks down the exact searches of each hot spring trend, down to the most popular colours and geography of the top searches. Take a look at the report yourself, if you’re anything like us, you’ll be surprised by the results! Who knew emoji jogger pants were such a hot ticket item?! Read the full report here.
