While really far from the suburbs, Midtown Toronto is decidedly more family oriented; there are fewer clubs, offices and tourists generally don’t wander this far north. Still there is plenty of shopping, great shopping really. Here are three shopping areas that will make you head north of Bloor.
Yonge & Eglinton – The most obvious spot to start Yonge & Eg. Yonge & Eligible it was called when I moved to the city but with so many families in the area I wonder if it is still the case. One thing is for certain there is alot of great shopping along Yonge north of Eglinton. What I like about it is the mix of boutiques and big chains. You can shop Club Monaco and I Heart Accessories in the same strip. Urban Outfitters with your Sporting Life. There is also a mix of price points. The aforementioned I Heart Accessories is filled with fun affordable goodies. Chockies is an excellent source of price conscious basics by brand names.
The Eglinton Way – Even higher end than Yonge & Eg, this area is all boutiques. TNT, Honey and Kick Maternity are all worth the visit. There is also a niche market of shops that sell special occasion dresses. Just bring your Visa, Mastercard, Amex…The Leaside Business Park – This is where the comparisons to the ‘burbs might come from.
The Leaside Business Park- Over by Laird and Eglinton has a Winners, Homesense, Marshalls, Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Pier 1 … all those big box stores that usually make Torontonians shudder. Still I love me a bargain so I check them out often.
