Fresh off winning her Target Emerging Designer Award in Montreal this past spring, Melissa Nepton presented a collection that could be the dark horse of the week. Titled Pikuseru, meaning “pixel” in Japanese, the inspiration was evident from the start. With breezy skirts to the boxy tops, Nepton managed to seamlessly present a fashion forward collection that fits into her brand mantra of ‘modern, ready-to-wear couture that targets the urban career women’. The colour scheme consisted lots of white & black with hints of mint green and ice/navy blue. The colours complemented each other perfectly, enhancing the pieces in a cool and unconventional way for the spring/summer season. Highlights include a fresh take on floral prints, a sheer printed tank & way-wide leg pants. With an exclusive apparel line to be sold in 2014 at Target stores in Quebec, it’s safe to say this is this is just the beginning for Melissa Nepton and she can only go up from here!
