As summer comes to a close, fashion lovers are silently eager for fall, with all its leather, knits, and tweeds. However, we’re not quite ready to let go of our summer dresses and ankle bearing jeggings and when the temperature drops, it leaves our wardrobe feeling a bit confused. That’s why we’ve enlisted in the help of Yorkdale Mall to help navigate the seasonal transition with ease.
Tip #1 – Bare skin differently
With dropping temperatures, bearing arms and legs at the same time is no longer possible. As a guide – chose just one extremity to expose and stick with that. Try a dress with a jacket and no tights, or opt for jeans with a short sleeved blouse.
Tip #2 – Layers, layers, layers
Add leggings, high socks or tights under a summer dress or couple a warm blazer with your favourite shorts. A light scarf is also a great way to make any summer outfit blend into fall, and make sure to carry around a slouchy cardigan for cooler evenings.
Tip #3 – Incorporate darker tones
Slowly start pairing your summer neutrals with some of this year’s fall colours in the form of accessories like a scarf, or camis to wear under a blazer. Look for Royal blue, hunter green, mustard yellow and deep purple.
Tip #4—Swap open toe for closed toe
Ease yourself out of sandals and into booties. Rejoice in the fact that you’ll save money on pedicures and embrace the closed toed look. There’s nothing more adorable than a maxi with suede booties or cuffed pants with a structured loafer.
