Earlier this year we discovered that Shoes.com was going bankrupt, and it’s assets Shoes.com, Shoeme.ca and Onlineshoes.com would be shuttered.

Recently, According to Retail-Dive Walmart has targeted the domain shoes.com and has just completed the acquisition for $9 million.

The new Shoes.com will redirect to the Walmart-owned Shoebuy.com.

The acquisition of Shoe.com shows Walmart’s continued interest in the apparel e-commerce space. Walmart has been slowly acquiring struggling e-commerce platforms and rolling them into the Walmart family. The retail juggernaut has recently acquired women’s apparel e-commerce retailer Modcloth as well as outdoor apparel retailer Moosejaw.

We will keep you posted as new developments arise.
