The New York Post is reporting that Walmart has been forced to apologize after an offensive description of a product by a third-party vendor appeared on Walmart.com.

The product in question is a protective layer between a person’s hair and hair extensions. The product colour on the website is described as “N- Brown”. It’s ridiculous that 1) the product actually has this description and 2) that Walmart didn’t’ catch it before it ended up on their website.

The product in question was discovered and brought to light by Twitter user Kwani Lunis who took a screenshot of the offending product.

While the product did end up on Walmart’s page, they were quick to remove the product and issue a statement which can be viewed here.

What are your thoughts? Do retailers need to take accountability for third party vendors?
