A common staple of every American mall is Wetzel’s Pretzels, considering the chain was started in 1994 it’s actually somewhat surprising that the delicious knotted treat has yet to really take off north of the border. However, according to our friends at Retail-Insider, Wetzel’s Pretzels are planning a Canadian expansion.
If you’ve never heard of the now ubiquitous Wetzel’s Pretzels, the hand-rolled and baked fresh pretzels come in a wide variety of flavours and are paired with delicious dipping sauces as well as hot dogs called Wetzel Dogs. The company was founded in suburban Los Angeles and now has more than 300 locations across the United States.
According to Retail-Insider, Wetzel’s Pretzels opened a Kiosk in West Edmonton Mall in 2014 and so far, that has kept that as the only Canadian location. The brand has plans to open up kiosks across the country and you should expect to see them at airports and your local mall.
