What Happens When a Chocolatier Teams Up With a Luggage Brand

It may be hard finding a connection between chocolate and luggage at first glance. But everything’s possible when you think of art.

This year one of Europe’s leading luggage manufacturers RIMOWA will present a unique suitcase designed in collaboration with a maître chocolatier and award-winning sculptor, Patrick Roger. The collaboration, which also includes two sculptures, chocolate scented stickers as well as a special edition chocolate bar, will be presented at RIMOWA’s prestigious flagship store located on Rue du Faubourg Saint Honore in Paris.

The limited-edition suitcase designed specifically for the occasion is based on RIMOWA’s Salsa Deluxe edition and is in Patrick Roger’s signature emerald green color. (See the images below.)

There will be only 50 suitcases available for purchase that you can get your hands on starting December.

According to Patrick Roger, chocolate is a world of infinite possibilities. For Roger, art and taste are correlated. The artist believes that creativity inspires people to aim for new heights in an appeal to our artistic and gourmet sensibilities around the world.

But besides being a master chocolatier, sculptor and artist, he is also an avid traveler. That’s why a collaboration with the luggage brand was a natural step for him.

“CEO of RIMOWA Alexandre Arnold and I make a naturally complementary team, crossing generations in the quest for inspiration. After all, travel is the key to enlightenment and insight,” said chocolatier.

At the RIMOWA boutique exhibition, Roger will present his creation “L’Homme qui voyage” (The Traveler.) Despite the fact that the sculpture is made of aluminium, it gives the feeling of weightlessness and elegance. Being a chocolatier in the first place, Roger has mastered the technique of working with other materials, including aluminium, bronze and silver.

The exhibition will take place from December 1, 2017, through February 15, 2018.
