About This Event

As store shelves empty out and food choices narrow, many of us start dreaming of lush vegetable gardens in our backyard. You can still get some crops in the ground and harvest this summer! Maricopa County Master Gardener Julie Knapp will teach you how to plan, start and maintain a vegetable garden in the low desert, even if you have never grown your own food before. Vegetable Gardening 101 will have information applicable for novices to long-time gardeners.

Please note: this is a ticketed event — $10.

Purchase your tickets here.

Participants will learn:

• How to select the best area for a vegetable garden based upon microclimates

• What plants will grow in each season

• How to maintain the garden for maximum harvest

• Common pests and diseases that plague a vegetable garden and how to control them
