It’s that time of the year again – the time where men kick-off the month with baby soft faces and jump into a 30-day-long moustache growing marathon to raise awareness about men’s health. The Movember Foundation, which started 11 years ago, is the leading global organization committed to changing the face of men’s health. To date they’ve raised $574 million and have funded over 800 programs in 21 countries in an effort to improve the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues. There have been $4 million moustaches grown worldwide, but since not all of us who want to help are able to grow a ‘stache, we’ve sourced five ways moustacheless Mo Sistas and Mo Bros can help the cause.
1. TOMS for Movember
This year marks TOMS‘ fifth year in partnership with Movember and they’ve launched a limited-edition collection ($70-$75) featuring embroidered moustaches and “moustachery” heritage prints to celebrate. With each shoe purchased, TOMS will provide financial support to the Movember Foundation’s programs AND, in true TOMS fashion, donate a new pair of shoes to a child in need. Shop the collection for men and women here.
2. Mo Collection by Liel and Lentz
Toronto jewelry company, Liel and Lentz, has released the “Mo Collection” – a collection ($20-$30) featuring wooden moustache lapel pins, tie bars, necklaces and pendents, each designed and made in Toronto. The accessories are available for purchase online at lielandlentz.com and at select retailers in Ontario. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Movember Foundation. Shop the collection here.
3. Movember x The Giving Keys
The Giving Keys is a Los Angeles-based jewelry company that employs individuals looking to transition out of homelessness. They’ve teamed up with Movember for two limited edition products: The Movember x The Giving Keys Key Chain ($32) and The Movember x The Giving Keys Classic Pendent ($35). Both limited edition accessories are engraved with the word “CHANGE” and for every item purchased, The Giving Keys will donate $5 directly to the Movember Foundation. Shop the collection here.
4. Paul Smith Movember Mittens
Sold exclusively at Holt Renfrew, the Paul Smith Movember mittens come in 3 different striped colour palettes and are sure to keep your hands as warm as your upper lip! The proceeds will go towards Holt Renfrew’s goal of raising $100,000 for men’s health and the mittens are available at all Holt Renfrew and hr2 locations. Learn more about the collection here.
5. Movember Gala Parté
To celebrate the end of a successful moustache run, Movember throws an official Movember Gala Parté in each major city in Canada and across the globe. The annual costume party (complete with costume judging contests) is the Mo Community’s way of expressing their thanks for every participant’s efforts to spread awareness and raise funds for men’s health. During Movember, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas can raise $100 to secure a ticket (or $200 for 2 tickets) to the gala in their city or purchase a ticket from the Movember website for $20. This year, the Toronto gala takes place at Guvernment – purchase your ticket here.
