Summer’s here, so drag those sneakers off the shelf, bid goodbye to those salt stain woes, and get ready for summer ’16. From new Adidas NMDs to already-classic Yeezys, there are a plethora of new sneakers to start freaking out about this summer. To celebrate, we’ve put together a list of the hottest sneakers that are hitting the market this season, and how you can cop them.
Air Jordan Flu Game
If you think having the flu is the absolute worst, then you’ve clearly never been Michael Jordan. Flashback to 1997: Bulls versus Jazz tied two-two in the playoffs. Michael Jordan was stricken with a brutal flu, leaving the Bulls worried they’d be suiting up without their star player in the game of the season. Despite a hell of a lot of sniffles, Jordan hit the court, played his heart out and won them the game. Thanks to his heroic efforts, he’s got a limited edition shoe in his name.
With a colourway inspired by the Japanese rising sun, these shoes are the perfect throwback to that legendary game. These shoes are an alternative to the OG flu game release – they have a high-end leather finish instead of the traditional nubuck. Even though they already officially dropped on May 28th, die-hards can find the shoe in select stores and the depths of the internet. The sneaker is only coming out in a limited run; these kicks guaranteed are guaranteed to be one of the most sought-after shoes of the summer.
Nike Lab x Olivier Rousteing
If last year’s freak-out over the Balmain x H&M collection is any indication, Nike’s collaborative pieces with the Balmain designer are sure to fly off the shelves. Done in the traditional all black and gold colours of the Parisian house, Rousteing put his own spin on the typical Nike silhouettes like the Roche, Flynight, and Free.

If you haven’t gotten your hands on a pair of Yeezy’s yet (cue the tears of your wallet), then your chance is coming up. Three brand new colourways (a baby blue/grey, an eggplant, and a dark brown) of the Yeezy Boost 750 are set to appear on shelves June 11th, according to tweets from Adidas. Yeezy releases have proven to be a competitive game (think: overnight campouts and sky-high reselling prices), so get there early to avoid disappointment.

Rihanna x Puma Creeper
Rihanna’s most recent foray into the fashion world saw edgy twists on the classic Puma tennis shoe: think monochromatic colourways and a stacked, creeper sole. Okay, there’s no confirmed release date for these babies, but reps at Puma have hinted that a new shipment of Rihanna’s latest collab will drop in the summer months. Act fast: the last two drops of these shoes sold out in 35 minutes.
Drop date TBD
If you’re a fan of the NMD (which, basically every cool dude ever,) then get excited for the summer ’16 season. A whole family of new NMD colourways and updates are hitting the shelves this June. They’re dropping a streamlined ‘city sock’ version of the shoe, in the classic black with blue and red accents. If you’re a fan of the Nike Huarache, the new Adidas NMD XR1 has a more futuristic silhouette like the Huarache – like a caging around the heel. For the girlier of us, a rose-gold hue of the classic shoe is also dropping on that date. For fans of the black-on- black-on- black, the NMD R1 is a monochromatic version of the NMD shape, complete with Japanese lettering on the arch. If that’s not enough, Adidas Is also coming out with a chukka version of the NMD silhouette, with a higher top and desert boot feel.
