IKEA, the largest home furnishings company in the world, has a little problem. It seems as if teens from around the world have taken to having sleepovers during off hours in Ikea stores. There have been 10 such incidents recorded around the world, including one in Canada.
The Toronto Star is reporting that the trend likely began when teens in Belgium had a sleepover in an Ikea and Snapchatted, Instagrammed and Facebooked their way into getting caught by the police.
The Star goes on to report that people hid in closets and wardrobes until the store closed to avoid detection. Ikea obviously wants this to stop. A spokesperson from the company has said that the company takes sleepovers “seriously” and that the night is likely “overrated” and will end up with legal consequences.
