June Beauty Picks
A new month means new beauty product reviews and with summer ahead, you’ll definitely want to try some of these! Each product in our June Beauty Picks has been tried and tested. Check out my reviews for products that’ll make your eyes look bigger and brighter, soak up oil when you’re on that 2-day, no-shower binge, help you get the perfect winged liner, and more! Check out last month’s beauty picks here.
I learned about the Body Shop’s new Matte Kajal White Eyeliner a few months ago and I’ve been using it in my daily beauty routine ever since. The eyeliner is super soft and rolls on really smoothly. I line my inner eyelids with this before I apply mascara – it really makes my eyes pop and brightens them. You’ll only need to apply this once a day, as it’s very long lasting.
I have very fine Asian hair, so my hair is quite limp. I started using the Schwarzkopf OSiS Session Label Volumizing Spray Mousse a few weeks ago. I spray the product onto my roots after a shower, let the product sit for a bit while I apply my makeup and then blow-dry. I find it adds a little oomph and I definitely notice more body. It also helps my hair hold curls and waves better, meaning I can nix hairspray! Full disclosure though, If you use this on dry hair, it will harden like a strong hairspray and also be careful when aiming the spray – I noticed it made my floor quite sticky.
I’ve tried a lot of liquid eyeliners in my time, but the Eye Studio Master Graphic by Maybelline is by far one of my favourites! Its marker-like triangle tip makes the liner easy to use, and since it’s thick on one end and thin on the other, mastering the perfect winged liner is a breeze. It is also very long lasting. I’ll be honest, I applied this on a night out, wore it to bed, woke up and it was still on – it wasn’t faded and there was not a single smudge, but it’s not impossible to remove either. Just use make-up remover!
Allow me to introduce you to my new go-to summer lip colour, Carolina Coast! I reviewed Burt’s Bee Lip Crayons earlier this year, but I thought I’d affirm my love for them. My favourite part about them are that they’re super easy to apply and don’t dry out your lips. The colour lasts a few hours before you have to reapply. Read my full review here.
Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-Powder – $31.00
I have a love affair with dry shampoo and Bumble and Bumble has quickly become my favourite. The bottle is small and it easily fits into my purse or travel bag. The smell is lovely and fresh, and the powder easily blends into my black hair without a problem. The price is a bit higher than average dry shampoos, but my 2 OZ bottle has lasted me about a year and I use it 1-2 times a week – it doesn’t take much of the powder to absorb all that oil & dirt!
