I Tried Justin Bieber Dance Classes in Toronto, Here’s What I Thought
I’m not afraid to admit that I am a serious Belieber and I most definitely have chronic Bieber Fever. When I discovered that The Underground Dance Centre in Toronto hosts beginner Justin Bieber dance classes, I knew I had to try. I am 26 and prior to this class, I hadn’t taken a dance class in over twelve years. I was extremely nervous but it turned out to be a great workout and Sunday spent having fun and dancing freely.
When I walked into The Underground Dance Centre’s studio, it had a warm & welcoming vibe – a very un-intimidating atmosphere. The class started with a quick warm up, which only took about ten seconds for me to break a sweat, and then the choreography began. Derek, the class teacher was incredibly funny, knowledgeable, and entertaining. With only about 15 students, there was a ton of space for moving and the facility was very clean.
I was extremely scared to learn the choreography but the class was taught in true beginner fashion: very slow to start and picking up the pace as the class went on. We didn’t dance to the popular Bieber songs, but instead to Roller Coaster, which was a nice change from the hits I’m constantly hearing on radio (not that I have a problem with Sorry or anything). Below is an example of one of their Bieber classes:
I left the class with a 30 second dance that I could not stop practicing all afternoon. It put me in such a good mood and I left looking forward to the next class. A GoPro was used to film the class and was made available for purchase afterwards for $2.99. Luckily for me, there were technical difficulties and there is no evidence of my Bieber moves.
I can’t wait until next week when I’ll be trying the beginner Beyonce and beginner Heels classes. If you’re looking to challenge yourself, there are also classes available for intermediate and advanced students. Check out the Underground Dance Centre’s class schedule here.
