Early December, we reported that the Dutch retailer Mexx had declared bankruptcy. The retailer, who carries menswear, womenswear and childrenswear, blamed deep discounting in Canada as a part of the reason for bankruptcy and announced that they would be closing all 95 of their Canadian locations. Mexx began liquidating their Canadian stores mid-December. Discounts of 30% to 50% off regular retail prices will be offered on all inventory and many locations are also selling off furniture and fixtures. The sale will run until the end of February, when all 95 of Mexx’s Canadian stores will be closed.
