We all know and love the Sam Edelman shoes. They are fashionable, functional and, not to mention, in our budget. Yesterday, Women’s Wear Daily reported that the division of Brown Shoe Co. has signed a leasing agreement with Kellwood Co. to manufacture and market a junior and women’s clothing line under the name Sam Edelman.
The footwear brand began in 2004 and is known for their fast fashion. The collection will be a similar aesthetic to Edelman’s footwear and consist of fashion-forward tops, sweaters, bottoms, dresses and jackets. The target customer for the new line will be a woman between the ages of 19-29, “a girl who’s very aspirational, living on Instagram, Facebook and tweeting and likes to share what she’s finding” Libby Edelman, Sam Edelman’s wife and muse, tells WWD.
Pieces from the collection are expected to range between $100-$200 and will be available online in February 2014. In addition to the new clothing line, Edelman has set licensing agreements for outerwear, jewelry and is in the process of signing a new handbag deal. Down the road, Edelman also hopes to launch beauty, fragrance, lingerie and home ware.
Looks like Edelman is a very busy man. Are you excited for his new clothing collection?
