Finding your perfect pair of jeans can be a never-ending saga. The fit and style have to be just right or they tend to live in a drawer and never see the light of day. Sometimes – even if you get the fit and size just right, you wear them for a couple of hours and they look like a completely different pair of jeans. Stretched, or even worse, saggy (and not in an international way).

A good pair of jeans is arguably one of the most important clothing garments you can have in your wardrobe. Jeans can easily take you from day to night and can accomplish almost any look you may be trying to achieve with their endless styling possibilities. This is why it’s so important to have at least one go-to pair! If you’ve yet to find your holy-grail pair of denim, don’t fret. We’ve rounded up some of the best places to shop for jeans. From affordable to high-end, you have options.

Finding the right pair of jeans is a process that takes dedication and perseverance. Classic blue jeans will always be a style staple, so it’s important to find ones that do your body some good.

The real world of women and our varied bodies is not like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants — there isn’t one magical pair that will work for everyone. That’s why it’s important to know which jeans could provide that “perfect fit” for your figure.

Everyone deserves to find their own true love in a pair of jeans, and to give you a head start, we’ve created a mini denim guide to help you find the best jeans for your body.

Pear Shape

https://www.instagram.com/p/BfLwCksgrDF/?taken-by=collagevintage

A pear-shaped body type tends to carry weight in the hips, rear and legs so a mid-rise, balanced style will flatter this shape best because it will elongate the legs. When searching for a pair of jeans that properly supports and shows off your derriere, look for flares, boyfriend styles and those with a little extra stretch. Just be sure to stay away from high-waisted jeans because they will shorten your legs and create a disproportionate look.

Apple Shape

https://www.instagram.com/p/BDrOeE9EtbK/?hl=en&taken-by=levis

If your midsection is your biggest concern you’d think to reach for a pair of high-waisted jeans. But instead, apple shaped ladies should choose a boot-cut style that both covers and smoothes the body. Straight legged jeans will show off your assets without making you look middle-heavy. Steer clear of tight skinnies and high-waisted jeans as they will actually draw negative attention to your middle area.

Curvy

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bb-OK-wBKON/?taken-by=gracefullyglamblog

Show off your curves by picking a pair of jeans that hugs your assets and flatters your not-so-favourite features. A lot of denim brands have fits that are marked “curvy,” which just means that they are constructed specifically for curvier figures with some added stretch (which is never a bad thing). Go for a dark wash denim versus light to create a slimming effect. If you’re a curvy girl with a small waist, you can also rock high-waisted jeans since the cut will accentuate and flatter your tiny middle area.

Hourglass

https://www.instagram.com/p/BUe88eeB2XJ/?hl=en&taken-by=levis

If you have a curvy but overall balanced body shape, it’s considered an “hourglass” figure. These ladies lucked out when it comes to denim as they can wear almost any cut and look fab. However, it’s important to show off your curves in the right way; skinnies should be your go-to but steer clear of low-risers. Be sure to choose a pair of jeans with a contoured waist that is made from a stretchy material so it will give a little in the hips.

 Petite

https://www.instagram.com/p/BO8cNB1lk57/?taken-by=imjennim

When it comes to jeans, one of a petite girl’s biggest problems is the length. So look for cropped cuts in dark washes that will elongate your legs. Anything high-waisted will create the illusion of height and length, but if you want to showcase your petite build, low-rise jeans are very figure-flattering. Just be sure to avoid anything that is too baggy or else you’ll look like you’re drowning in denim.

Tall

https://www.instagram.com/p/BQyVrbLgUYK/?hl=en&taken-by=levis

If you’re lanky and lean, why not show off those gorgeous, long legs! If you’re looking for shape proportion, a low-rise pair will help balance things out. But if you’re looking to highlight those gems of yours, a high-rise style will make your legs look like they go on for days. Choose a jean in an extra long style or something cropped that’s shorter on purpose to forego that awkward foot-to-ankle gap all tall girls struggle with.
