On August 30, the annual MTV VMAs took place in New York City and marked the first awards show since the global health pandemic began. With the VMAs marking the first red carpet event we’ve seen all year, we were excited to see what celebrities decided to wear, as well as how the awards show would pan out.
Hosted by Keke Palmer, the 2020 MTV VMAs included some special awards categories, including “Quarantine Performance”, “Best Music Video from Home”, and “Everyday Heroes: Frontline Medical Workers”. The event took place in multiple locations across the city and was held without a live audience.
Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga were the most-nominated artists and there were live performances from The Weeknd, BTS, Miley Cyrus, DaBaby, and Doja Cat, to name a few. But now, let’s get back to the fashion.
