Fall is around the corner, and Pinterest has just released its Fall 2024 Trend Report, unveiling the top anticipated trends in fashion, beauty, home decor, food, and hobbies! With Pinterest being one of the top platforms for finding inspiration, its predictions are based solely on search data across its millions of users—40% of whom are Gen Z. This fall, expect a rise in bold prints, intricate Japanese-inspired nail art, and a more-is-more makeup approach, to name a few of the top forecasted trends.

‘Biophilic Fashion’

Biophilic Fashion is essentially described as fashion inspired by nature. This is where we’ll see bold prints such as leopard print, camo, animal motifs, printed tights, and more!

‘Puff & Puffer’

In recent Pinterest trend reports, puff elements like the balloon skirt and puff sleeves have been a recurring theme in fashion. The voluminous ‘puff and puffer’ trend will continue to rise in popularity this fall!

‘Dewy Fresh’

Along with the “more is more” makeup approach, dewy and glowing makeup looks will be a huge fall beauty trend this year! In case you haven’t heard, ultra-glossy lips have already been making a comeback, and cool-toned looks are all the rage. Pinterest also listed soft baddie makeup, igari makeup, and soft cat eye makeup amongst its trending searches.

‘Nail Detail’

It’s time for a mani-refresh! Searches in bow nail designs are up by 2220%, while Japanese-inspired nails are up by 600%, on Pinterest. Japanese nail designs often feature soft, pastel colours and intricate nail art. “There is a growing interest in Japanese culture due to the influx of travellers to Japan,” shares Pinterest

‘Harmonious Japanese Style’

As mentioned above, the forecasted trends inspired by Japan reflect the growing interest in Japanese culture. Pinterest lists Japanese vintage art, zen houses, and Japanese futon bedrooms as trending searches, drawing the conclusion that ‘Harmonious Japanese Style’ home decor will be a theme of choice in the coming months.

‘Cozy corners’

Who doesn’t want a dedicated cozy corner in their home? From candle bouquets to cozy reading nooks, Pinterest has all the inspiration you need to make your home cozy in time for the fall season.

With summer on the horizon, there’s no better time than now to start getting some fashion inspiration for the upcoming season! Spoiler alert: Maximal fashion is taking over. From Y3K fashion (yes, you read that right) to corporate chic, we’ve rounded up our favourite fashion trend predictions from Pinterest’s Summer Trend Report!

Corporate Chic

We hate to break it to you, but dressing business casual to the club is back. But this time, it’s way more chic—don’t fret. Corporate chic, geek chic, pinstriped pants, and vest and skirt were highlighted searches in what Pinterest is calling “corp-core.” With the latest “office siren” trend, we can’t say we’re too surprised!

Eclectic Jewellery

Eclectic, maximal, charmed, and chunky jewellery pieces are going to be a major styling theme this summer! We’ve already noticed eclectic jewellery is on the rise, and it’s only going to become more prominent. Whether it be with a variety of stacked necklaces and rings, cute charms on bracelets and bags, or a statement earring, eclectic jewellery in all shapes and forms is the moment.

Y3K Aesthetic

Unlike Y2K fashion, which refers to past styles from the early 2000s, the Y3K aesthetic refers to the future—fashion that could be imagined for the 3000s. Pinterest highlighted silver sneakers and lime green outfits as popular searches related to the Y3K fashion trend. When we did our own Y3K Pinterest research, we saw tons of silver, futuristic eyewear, and an emphasis on technology.

Tomboy Styles

Labelled as “tomboy femme,” Pinterest predicts that cargo pants, oversized jerseys and baggy clothing will be big this summer. Avril Lavigne would be so proud!

New Silhouettes

Get ready to have some extra fun with your style this summer, because bold patterns and new silhouettes are on the way! Puff and bubble skirts, for example, are predicted to be a major trending silhouette this summer. If you’re not familiar with the fresh style, it’s essentially a skirt on the voluminous side that features a tucked-in hem – creating a bubble effect.

Rocker Chic

Corporate chic not your thing? Enter rocker chic. Pinterest users have been looking up terms like “alt baddie” and “rock and roll outfit” more and more lately, indicating that the rocker chic style will be amongst the trending fashion this summer. So dig out all the leather you own and get ready to embrace your inner rockstar (in the most not cringe, stylish way possible).

According to Pinterest, These Trends Will Dominate In 2024

We snagged a seat at the Pinterest Predicts 2024 Presentation, where Pinterest predicts the hottest fashion, food, home, and lifestyle trends for the year. Over the past 4 years, 80% of the trends Pinterest forecasted have come true. For example, in 2022 it was predicted that ‘dopamine dressing’ would be a major trend, and a major trend it was (and still is)! With more than 480 million people from around the world coming to the platform each month to get fashion, home, travel, and beauty inspiration, Pinterest continues to lead the way in trend spotting.

Be Jelly

Think… under the sea. From home decor to fashion to beauty, Gen Z and Millennials are driving trends reminiscent of all things aqua-related, from jellyfish to bubbles.

Bow Stacking

Start adding more bows to your collection because the brow trend is going up a notch! In 2024, there will be no such thing as too many bows. Wearing multiple bows in your hair, on your clothes, and incorporated in your accessories is the vibe.

Hot Metals

Consider trading your neutrals for something a little more hardcore this year with cool silver tones and bold chrome! This trend can be incorporated with metallic silver nail art, aluminum furniture, silver layered necklaces, and more!

Kitschens (Kitschy Kitchens)

Quirky, eccentric, fun kitchens featuring bold paint, vintage appliances, vintage-inspired dishware, and thrifted finds are about to take over the decor scene!

Cafécore

This year, create café-worthy beverages from the comfort of your own home with an at-home coffee station – you may even end up saving some dollars in the long run!

Western Gothic

Western goth is predicted to be another major upcoming decor and fashion trend. It refers to mixing vintage Americana chic with deep, moody hues.

Making A Racket

And no… this doesn’t mean to make a bunch of noise literally. This trend prediction is all about badminton! Apparently, badminton will be extra popular in 2024, from playing the sport to dressing in the badminton aesthetic (sporty skirts, white sneakers, headbands, etc).

Pinterest has released its trend report for 2020 and while some of these fashion trends have carried over from 2019, there are a couple Pinterest trends on this list that might catch you off guard.

From luxe scrunchies and gender neutral everything, to hiking gear and a new way to do logos, here are 8 fashion trends to keep an eye out for according to Pinterest.

Beyond Binary

Keeping with the gender neutral trend that took over last year, the theme is continuing to stay popular. This year, the unisex trend is expanding from apparel and moving into all sorts of categories like baby nurseries, children’s names, haircuts, party ideas, and even wedding dresses. This is definitely proving that gender norms are truly becoming a thing of the past.

Secondhand fashion

Another fashion trend that’s coming with us into 2020, according to Pinterest, is the secondhand fashion craze. With climate change being a serious issue that we’re all facing, it’s so important to live a low-waste life. And just because we’re being eco-conscious, it doesn’t mean we can’t shop so head to your local consignment, vintage, or thrift store and do your part.

WFH outfits

So often when we WFH, we stay in our jammies all day and while it’s comfortable, it’s just not motivating. Searches for WFH Wear that’ll have you staying cozy but still feeling like a boss in your own home have gone up 82%.

Hiking Gear

Getting active and experiencing the great outdoors has always been popular, however hiking gear has not. That is until now because searches for hiking fashion, like comfy layers and boots that are good for long walks, on Pinterest have spiked 194%.

NASA logos

Grunge

We all know how popular ’90s fashion has been over the last couple years, and another trend coming back from that decade is grunge. Think plaid flannels, ripped jeans, messy hair, combat boots, you know, the works. It’s so popular that Pinterest reports a 292% spike in searches for ’90s grunge fashion.

Scrunchies

Still running their course from last year are scrunchies, but in 2020 they’re getting a makeover. Expect to see scrunchies being made with luxe materials like satin, velvet, and leather. No longer are these babies being used just for when we wash our faces as searches for scrunchies have skyrocketed a stunning 6309%.

Y2K ensembles

Instagram/@heyprettyblog

As mentioned earlier, fashion ’90s trends are still hot but as we’re onto a new decade, the Y2K decade has started to trend, too. So much in fact that searches for Y2K outfits featuring items like army pants and hip chains on Pinterest have soared 669%.

The social platform just released their annual trend report with the down low on the most lit womenswear trends. Don’t believe me? The truth is in the statistics: aka Pinterest’s most popular searches.

From bamboo essentials, to wrap silhouettes and more, these are the searches that have increased the most on Pinterest. While you probably saw a lot of these styles coming due to their growing presence on Instagram, it’s still nice to a have a definitive voice on the matter.

Take a look at the top trends for womenswear in 2019 according to Pinterest below and start shopping.

Bamboo Accessories

Bamboo bags have been one of the most popular searches on Pinterest and the trend is going to be even bigger in 2019. While we saw many influencers carry circular straw crossbody bags last year, structured bamboo totes and clutches are about to have their moment.

Statement Sneakers

Think of the new statement sneaker as a streamlined version of the chunky dad sneaker. The emphasis is less on fugly and more on the details. Don’t shy away from a new pair of kicks sporting bright hues or funky laces.

African Prints

Pinterest trends

As the Pinterest report puts it, they just kente get enough of this trend; searches for African prints blew through the roof. Whether it’s dashiki or cocktail dress, African wax prints and kitenges are a way to add some flavour to your wardrobe, no matter where you live.

Ruched Details

Kim Kardashian did it first when she wore that black ruched dress everyone gagged over… Naturally, ruching has caught on with a wave of gathered gowns and tops hitting stores and social accounts everywhere, including Pinterest. More and more Pinners have been searching for items with ruching as the main detail.

Wrap Silhouettes

Pinterest trends

Whether it’s a dress or a coat, this silhouette is not only comfortable but also super stylish. The wrap silhouette literally has the same effect as a bathrobe, yet is socially acceptable to wear in public. Say yes to this drapey shape in 2019 — you won’t be able to get enough of it.

Snakeskin Prints

Instagram/ @lolariostyle

Low and behold, snakeskin print is another mega-trend that we can probably chalk down to the Kardashians. The reptilian print has slithered onto just about any type of feed, whether it be on clothing or accessories. From jackets to pants, to shoes, people are going wild for this print in any shape or form.

Mod Sunglasses

While tiny sunglasses have been all the rage in 2018, it might be time to adopt some different proportions. Mod sunglasses are this year’s go-to with more people on Pinterest searching for chunky and oval frames.

Tortoise Accessories

Chunky plastic accessories are getting a sophisticated makeover as they’re drenched in tortoise print. Contrary to what you might think, the shell pattern isn’t only for sunglasses, but also makes a statement on earrings and necklaces that come in fun geometric shapes.

Bike Shorts

Pinterest trends

If you went ahead and invested in some bike shorts last summer, you’ll be happy to know that people are still riding high on this trend. The athleisure inspired look was the third most popular search on Pinterest meaning that comfort is still king. Don’t be afraid to dress up this look and make it chic in 2019.

Recycled Materials
