As one of the top retailers in Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart has been ever-changing; adapting to people’s needs and desires in order to stay ahead of its competitors and the retail apocalypse.

After a successful trial, the retailer opened The Beauty Clinique by Shoppers Drug Mart and earlier this year, they partnered with Instacart to offer same-day delivery. And now Shoppers Drug Mart is running a pilot on a brand new program: dental.

Shoppers Drug Mart will be testing dental centres in two Ontario-based stores.

For the pilot, Shoppers Drug Mart has partnered with Smile Direct Club. If the name sounds familiar, it’s likely because you’ve seen the company’s ads running on social media. Smile Direct Club is an American-based company and the first direct-to-consumer medtech platform for teeth straightening.

Shoppers will soon be able to visit the brand’s signature SmileShop in Shoppers Drug Mart.

The two stores being used to test the program are the Shoppers Drug Mart at The East Mall in Etobicoke and the Shoppers Drug Mart at Kingspoint Plaza in Brampton.

how does Smile Direct Club it work?

SmileGuides at the SmileShop store-in-stores will make customers 3D digital images of their teeth completely for free. They’ll then make customers a profile, which Smile Direct Club’s network of licensed dentists and orthodontists in Canada will review. The professionals will then prescribe and create a custom clear aligner treatment plan for each customer, and it’s sent straight to the customer’s door!

The do-it-yourself treatment costs $2495 or $110 a month — a pretty easy and affordable way to get a picture perfect smile!

If the pilot is a success, you can expect to see more Smile Direct Club SmileShops in Shoppers Drug Mart stores across Canada. Stay tuned!
