Brand and companies are doing everything they can to support and lift up black-owned businesses and that includes black-owned restaurants. Uber Eats recently announced that it’s waiving delivery fees when you order from black-owned restaurants in the U.S and Canada.
“We know this isn’t enough. It won’t be until we see true racial justice,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi wrote, “but we plan to work day in and day out to improve, learn, and grow as a company.”
Putting their money where their mouth is, it was also announced in the email that Uber made a $1 million donation to the Equal Justice Initiative and the Center For Policing Equity.

There are always plenty of cheap food deals in the city, but nothing beats food that’s free!
On September 18, McDonald’s celebrated National Cheeseburger Day by giving away free cheeseburgers. And this year they’re extending the promotion, so if you missed the first day, don’t fret!
There are just a couple of catches. First, you’ll need to download the Mcdonald’s app, which is free to download, in order to get the promotion. You’ll also have to make a food or beverage purchase a minimum of $1 to get your cheesy treat, which isn’t so bad! Just grab yourself some dessert or a drink to wash it all down.
Also know that there’s a limit of one free cheeseburger per order. You can claim the promotion in participating locations across Ontario or through mobile order.
For one day only on September 19, you can get $5 off your entire McDonald’s delivery for McDelivery Day.
To get the promotion, all you have to do is make an order on Uber Eats (minimum purchase of $15 required before taxes and delivery fees) or SkipTheDishes (minimum purchase of $20 required before taxes and delivery fees) and use the promotion code “McDelivery2019”.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is UberEATS you can place your order whenever you feel your stomach grumbling. Promising their customers an order time of 10 minutes or less, UberEATS is an ideal way to get your food right when you want it. Choose from some of Toronto’s favourite restaurants including Pai, Gusto 101 and La Cubana for a delivery fee that varies on how far the restaurant is from you. Just beware the surge charges on top of the delivery fee if you live in a busy area.

Starbucks and caffeine addicts, rejoice! Starbucks just announced something huge, and we’ve got just one thing to say: it’s about time!
The Seattle-based coffee giant recently announced a partnership with Uber Eats.
The program, dubbed “Starbucks Delivers,” is already available in the U.S., U.K., China, Japan, India, and more. In Canada, door-to-door service will be available in major cities, including Toronto, Vancouver, and Calgary.

Available through the Uber Eats app, Starbucks Delivers will offer the same ol’ experience that you love when you go into the store. New, unique packaging will ensure that hot and cold menu items stay just as they should. And if you’re the type who loves to customize everything about their morning beverage, don’t fret! Uber Eats will offer over 170,000 beverage customizations so that each order can be uniquely yours — all within a timeframe of 30 minutes.
“We know that Starbucks fans are passionate about the brand and they’ll be delighted that they can now enjoy most of their favourite products whenever and wherever they are at the tap of a button,” Dan Park, General Manager, Uber Eats Canada said in a press release. “Order your team their favourite lattes for the Monday morning meeting or have lunch delivered to the park. Uber Eats is very excited about partnering with Starbucks to unlock the power of on-demand delivery.”

The popular food delivery app has partnered with Toronto Pearson Airport and HMSHost to bring travellers delicious eats straight to their gates.
Those who have the Uber Eats app can now order food from restaurants like Caplansky’s Deli, Paramount Find Foods, Smashburger, Smoke’s Burritorie, or Fionn MacCools and have it delivered straight to their gate. From shawarma and burgers, to shepherd’s pie and smoked meat sandwiches, there are plenty of food options to satisfy guests’ cravings.

“Just last month, Toronto Pearson was voted by passengers as the Best Large Airport in North America as part of Airports Council International’s Airport Service Quality program,” said Scott Collier, Vice President, Customer and Terminal Services at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority in a press release. “We also received the Most Improved Airport in North America recognition, and this innovative partnership with Uber Eats and HMSHost, unlike among airports worldwide, underscores our commitment to continued innovation in passenger service.
