Iconic British brand Ted Baker London is adding Canada to its international passport…

Toronto, CANADA, August 29, 2012 – Iconic British brand Ted Baker London is adding Canada to its international passport. Fresh off the heels of its successful Manhattan Fifth Avenue store launch, the irreverent British lifestyle brand will open its first Canadian boutique in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre. Set to open November 16, 2012, the store joins over 200 locations around the world, each with their own signature look in keeping with the brand’s rich tradition of retail theatre.

“The first store in Canada will allow us to illustrate the brand experience more fully to all the Toronto based customers whom are currently engaging with Ted in our concessions and online. We will be able to give them a suitably unique Ted environment, full of the rich detailing, playful touches and expansive collections that they have been unable to experience in one place in Canada up to this point,” notes CEO and Founder, Ray Kelvin. “Toronto is a world-class city with a progressive fashion industry of both local and internationally renowned brands and designers. Ted Baker is thrilled to be making Toronto, and the highly regarded shopping centre Yorkdale, our first Canadian home.”

Showcasing the Autumn/Winter 2012 collections, the new store will house the complete lifestyle collection of Ted Baker London, including menswear, womenswear, footwear, accessories and gift items.

The A/W12 collections, titled Survival of the Fittest, are the perfect celebration of Great Britain’s Great Outdoors. Featuring autumnal tones of burnished berries and earthy hues, it creates a heart-warming palette that truly embraces rustic beauty and rural charm. Town meets country with heritage fabrics and classic silhouettes that sit alongside modern pieces that are perfect for any occasion.Within the AW12 collection Ted has fashioned exquisite lines for men and women.

Tight Lines

Ted’s Tight Lines collection features the most current styling menswear trends, sharp lines and cuts plus a unique printed lining that showcases stags and rising trout. Inspired by the simple fishing salutation “tight lines”, which calls for good luck in angling endeavours and with the benefit of Ted’s experience and knowledge of cuts and cloths, this unique collection features traditional styles and fabrics including tweeds, Donegals, Shetlands and over-sized checks with an elegant quirkiness. Key pieces include a two-button Herringbone jacket with angled and ticket pockets, a lambswool check jacket with waistcoat, and a taupe Donegal suit. Each Tight Lines jacket comes with a fly fishing pin and, throughout the collection, an eclectic mix of natural buttons on cuffs and fastenings that add a bohemian edge – as if a fisherman has lost a few buttons and has had to replace them with an odd assortment found in a drawer.

Ted’s A/W12 Langley womenswear collection casts a spellbinding vision this season.

Step into the fantastical with a unicorn print which appears on a floor sweeping maxi dress.  Layers and ruffles flounce on show stopping dresses; pure cashmere offers supreme luxury in whispers of nude pink, whilst heavy satin pieces add structure. The woodland feather print is crisp and couture on the structured silk organza 50’s-style dress. The feather theme continues on an opulent jacquard bow-back dress and a feathered shrug is a statement piece for dramatic evening glamour.

Ted’s A/W12 Phormal collection of men’s suits and separates features traditional fine natural fabrics such as wool, herringbone tweed, silk and mohair combined with luxurious satin and velvet trims. Key pieces include the double-breasted check blazer styled with the Prince of Wales charcoal coat, and the indigo mohair blend evening suit with satin piping detail.

Luxury line Global uses fabrics and prints that are exclusive to the brand. Ted’s velvet leopard skin Global jacket, complete with animal print jacquard lining and horn buttons, provides the final wild statement for A/W12.
