Beauty Review: The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream
The sun is out and it’s time for my pale skin to get some colour! While I’m super stoked to get a bit of a tan on my face, I’m not super stoked on spending tons of cash on new make-up to keep up with the changing colour of my skin. I turned to my sister (a certified beauty fanatic) for some advice for my next foundation purchase and she could not stop ranting about BB creams. If you’re as beauty bewildered as I am, BB stands for beauty balms or blemish balms. BB creams are meant to provide all the after-facewash skincare you need in a single tube! The prices of BB creams can range anywhere between $10 to $100, but I’m definitely not about to drop $100 on a cream. I decided to turn to The Body Shop after hearing about their ever popular All-in-One BB Cream ($20). Apparently the stuff is so good, that there’s one tube sold every 27 seconds! The Body Shop’s BB cream comes in 4 different shades and the colour adjusts to your skin tone, so it’ll keep up with your skin throughout the summer.
To give you a breakdown of my skin, I have a normal skin type with an olive complexion. I don’t break out super easily and I keep my skin hydrated by moisturizing once a day. I’ve been using the Body Shop’s all-in-one BB cream for about a month now and I love it! I haven’t had any breakouts, it’s super quick to throw on and blends perfectly with my skin tone (I use the medium shade). Though it’s not required to moisturize before applying BB cream, I typically do for a little extra hydration. The biggest draw I found was that the all-in-one BB cream holds my bronzer & blush really well. Before I started using BB cream, I used a pressed powder and found that I would have to reapply bronzer and blush once I got home before going out, but with the Body Shop’s all-in-one BB cream I don’t have to. The only thing that I wish the Body Shop’s BB cream featured is a built in SPF, but you can always throw on a little underneath – I suggest the Body Shop’s Vitamin C Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 ($20).
So if you’re looking for a light-weight foundation that’ll keep your skin hydrated through the summer, look no further and check out The Body Shop’s All-in-One BB cream. It’s one of the best and if you don’t believe me, it was recently given the 2014 Product of the Year Canada award in the cosmetics category!
