While we enjoyed the city’s mild weather over the holidays, the time for winter (we mean, real Canadian winter) is upon us. The City of Toronto issued the first extreme cold weather alert of 2017, today.
According to Environment Canada, temperatures are going to drop to the lowest they’ve been all winter. There is a 40% chance of flurries for today, with heavy wind and snowfall expected for Northern York and Durham regions that may make for treacherous driving.
At the time the extreme cold weather alert was issued, the temperature was -8C with a windchill of -15C. The temperatures are not expected to rise above -6C.
The temperatures are estimated to stay relatively the same until Sunday. No snow fall is expected for the weekend. At this point, it looks like the city will start warming up again when the week starts back up on Monday.
