What It’s Like to Be a Celebrity During TIFF
Each year, big-name celebrities flock to Toronto to celebrate one of the most acclaimed festivals of the year, the Toronto International Film Festival. We see them at their movie premieres and partying at extravagant galas, but what do they do in between? Well, enjoy free swag of course! We can’t account for all of their time, but we do know that celebrities have their pick of lounges to relax in away from the chaos and crowds. We wanted to get a feel of what it’s like to be a celebrity during TIFF, so we decided to tour three lounges and see what celebrity treatment is all about. Take the virtual tour below, but beware – you’re in for some major envy.
The Tastemakers Lounge presented by Sorel and Elle Canada
The Tastemakers Lounge has hosted some major celebs over that past eleven years. This year alone, the lounge welcomed stars like Kristen Stewert, Liam Hemsworth, Tom Hardy, and Kate Winslet. Stars were treated to free food, drinks from Pommies Cider, Rhone Valley Wines, and the Rémy Cointreau, massages courtesy of Dr. Liza from [the fix], and gift bags with offerings from Sorel, Tweezerman, Sahajan, Phantom Glass, Plan C, and the Hudson’s Bay. Stars were also given the opportunity to get snapped in Elle Canada portrait with studio photographer Luis Mora.
The NKPR IT Lounge
This year the NKPR IT Lounge was hosted at TIFF headquarters and tons of celebrities came through. Among them? Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Matt Damon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Johnny Depp to name a few. Stars were invited to chow down on pasta by Barilla and a rotating roster of chefs from restaurants like East Side Mario’s and Cibo Wine bar, snack on sweet treats while testing new products from Goody, and were treated to gifts from Saje Natural Wellness, Cross Pens, and Tom Tailor after having their photos captured by Caitlin Cronenberg and W Magazine.
The Variety Interview Studio at Holt Renfrew
This studio is the place to be if you want to do some guaranteed celebrity spotting. While we were there, we spotted Brie Larson, Tom Hardy, Susan Sarandon, Emily Browning, J.K Simmons, Saoirse Ronan, and Elizabeth Moss! Stars and filmmakers are joined by their publicists and makeup artists to interview in the Variety Fandango Studio. To kill time in between interviews and portraits, celebrities are spoiled silly with hand massages and makeup touch-ups by Moroccanoil and are able to play with new gadgets from Samsung. If they’re feeling peckish, they can enjoy snacks from Holt Renfrew and pressed juice from Belmonte Raw.
