There are times when you really need a corner store. Maybe it’s late at night, or maybe you just need a Slurpee, the fact is is that when you need a corner store, you expect them to be open, which is not happening for customers who have been heading to their local 7-Eleven. According to several sources, 7- Eleven’s across the city have been quietly shutting down.
According to the East York Chronicle, the 24-hour 7-Eleven at 975 Danforth closed suddenly without any notice. Many speculate that the closings of 7-Eleven’s may have something to do with the impending minimum wage hike. This follows the path that Metro Grocers decided to take by eliminating their 24-hour stores.
Regardless if you like 7-ELEVEN, we’ve all had to shop at one before so it will be interesting what will happen if 7-Eleven disappears from the retail-landscape.
