October has been nice, hasn’t it? The unseasonably nice weather has lulled us into a comfort of extra cottage weekends, patios remaining open and just a general good vibe around the city. Unfortunately, according to experts, this will all come to an end.
Our friends at AccuWeather have given us an outlook of what we can expect this winter, and unless you love snow, you’ll be in for a shock. Accuweather predicts that a snowy winter is expected for much of eastern Canada with the prospect of major snowstorms throughout the season.
AccuWeather Canadian Weather Expert Brett Anderson states that “There are opportunities for several significant snow events from Windsor through Toronto and up into Ottawa and Montreal this winter, especially in January and February,” The abnormally warm waters in the Great Lakes will also fuel significant lake-effect snow events, especially for cities such as Sault Ste. Marie, Barrie and London, Ontario, according to Anderson.
The only benefit for Ontarians is that the influx of snow will make for great ski conditions in eastern Canada.
So what does all this mean? Well, if you’re enjoying our current nice weather, get prepared for a rude awakening, and if you are one of those true Canadians who really does love the snow then all the best to you. We’ll be cursing your name.
