In a weird twist, after announcing a series of Pop-up shops in Canada and the U.S., Hypebeast is reporting that Louis Vuitton client services have been informing customers that the Supreme x Louis Vuitton collaboration “will no longer be sold in any store or online.”
According to Hypebeast, a Louis Vuitton sale representative at the SoHo pop-up location in New York has been informing customers that the pop-up shops that are supposed to open this Friday have been cancelled everywhere.
Insiders speculate that Supreme and Louis Vuitton have been unable to secure a spot in New York as New York City officials have stated that Supreme releases cause mayhem and doesn’t benefit the City of New York in any way shape or form.
Essentially, the craziness that this drop will create is not worth it to landlords or the city of New York, and it looks like Louis Vuitton, as well.
Again, according to Hypebeast, people were already camped outside the intended pop-up location in New York and would not believe officials and security when it was stated that the event had been cancelled.
No word as to what is going to happen with the release, but with increasing pressure from surrounding store owners and the relentlessness of Supreme campers, industry insiders are saying this decision could hurt the future of luxury and streetwear collaborations.
