Premier Doug Ford ran on a platform that promised to give Ontarians access to cheaper gas. The long-awaited relief at the gas pumps in finally coming and consumers couldn’t be happier.
If you have been feeling the hurt at the pumps lately, tonight is your night as gas is estimated to go down by five cents per litre, making the average cost at the pumps $1.24/L. While this is not cheap gas, it still gives a little incentive to drivers across the province.
While the Premier is currently under fire for his decision to shake up Toronto’s City Council, it looks like he has partly made good on some of his promises to Ontarians. One of his first actions was to cut the Cap and Trade program which means there is no longer a mandated tax on gas allowing producers to charge less.
Ford’s total promise is to drop gas prices by 10 cents a litre, so the premier still has some work to do.
If you’ve been running on empty and are looking to fill up head to the pumps tonight or tomorrow morning, as gas prices are expected to drop overnight.
