It’s nothing new that our skin gets super dry during the winter. This includes our lips which happen to take the brunt of it. Dry, cracked lips are never cute, regardless of if you’re a girl or guy, and applying lip balm is the easiest way to combat it. That and of course making sure to drink enough water.
As a beauty editor, I’m very diligent about my skincare routine and that definitely includes applying lip balm morning and night. However, I admit I had been slacking on applying lip balm during the day. I know, I know — no need to skin shame me. Even though I was applying a hydrating lip balm twice a day, I started to notice that my lips were still not as soft as I wanted them to be.

In December I brought a few different lip balms with me to the office to have on my desk, and I made a conscious effort to apply them throughout the day. While they all worked and felt nice on my lips, one stood out and no surprise here, it’s the Biossance Squalane+ Rose Vegan Lip Balm.
Squalane is the shelf-stable version of Squelene and it’s a natural hydrator that our skin produces and as we get older, our skin makes less and less of it. What’s unique about Biossance is that the brand found a way to create squalane as safely and effectively as the body does and its squalane comes from 100% plant based sugarcane. Then, its bio-fermented which results in highly stable, totally sustainable, and eco-friendly squalane.
In addition to locking in moisture, squalane improves the skins elasticity, calms and protects, and balances oil production without clogging pores.

So back to my Biossance lip balm review. What I really love about this balm is that aside from it’s hydrating super powers thanks to the squalane, it’s vegan, cruelty free, and made with totally clean ingredients.
While switching over to clean beauty products is super important, I feel it’s even more important when it comes to products we apply to our lips because, well, you kind of end up ingesting them — not intentionally of course!
Wondering what the scent is like? We all know what it’s like to open a product and almost be knocked over by how strong the fragrance is. Well I’m happy to report that isn’t the case here because all you’ll get is a very subtle and fresh rose scent.

Trust me, your lips will thank you, and you’ll thank yourself when you start to notice how soft and kissable your kisser is.

The fall and winter seasons are notorious for being beautiful, cozy, and dehydrating for our skin. In addition to it being absolutely freakin’ freezing, these icy winds wreak absolute havoc on our skin and hair. It’s not only important to keep ourselves hydrated by obviously drinking water, but slathering on hydrating beauty products has never been so crucial.
Now don’t read this and start slathering on all the moisturizer. Keeping your skin and hair hydrated starts on the inside. Really make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day. Not only that, but make sure you chug a large glass full first thing in the morning. If you think about it, that’s a whole 8 hours that you didn’t drink anything. For my fellow caffeine addicts — don’t worry, you’ll still get your espresso — just after you down that glass of H20.

Washing your face at the end of everyday is crucial, regardless of if you wear a full face of makeup or just a swipe of mascara and lipstick. Ask any beauty and skincare aficionado and they’ll likely tell you that removing your makeup isn’t the same as washing your face. Yes, it’s a great first step but it’s not the only step.
If you’re guilty of this, you may be now in the market to buy a cleanser that won’t only help get all traces of makeup off your face — a face wipe can only do so much — but also address your skincare concerns like acne, redness, and dehydration. When looking to buy a new cleanser, obviously price plays an important part. Just because one might be expensive, it doesn’t mean it’s the best cleanser and it certainly doesn’t mean the cheapies are crap.
While some folks might still be mourning the loss of summer, I know there are some (myself included), who jump for joy for the return of fall. Not only am I super excited to wear cozy sweaters and coats, but new fall beauty launches are like Christmas freakin’ morning. Not only are so many amazing brands coming out with inventive new products, but with the weather turning chillier, it’s super important to take care of our skin by hydrating and using the correct skincare products. Don’t think the fun stops at skincare — there are some super exciting new fall beauty products coming down the pipeline. From exfoliators, pre-shampoo masks, and roll-on scalp treatments, it’s all here!
We all know the feeling all too well — 3 p.m. rolls around and that mid-day slump hits and you need a pick-me-up. Instead of reaching for a dehydrating coffee or sugary treat, try a refreshing face mist. Before you roll your eyes, you’d be surprised at the effect a mist can have. Not only does the application feel absolutely wonderful, but these mists have ingredients that are really good for our skin.
