There’s never a shortage of things to do in Toronto. Regardless of what your interests are, there’s always a fun activity to do, something to see, and definitely no shortage of restaurants to visit. If shopping is more your thing but you’re itching to get out of the mall and shop local or have a unique experience, then these Toronto March pop-up shops are just the ticket.

Love fine jewellery? Who doesn’t! From March 4 until June, head to Yorkville Village to shop the Hania Kuzbari pop-up. It’s here that you can shop the brands Horseshoe, Smile, Freestyle, and Arabesque collections as well as never-before-seen items. This is Hania Kuzbari’s first North American store but it can also be found in stores in Dubai and Jordan.

Experience the beauty of Bali without having to step on a plane when you shop at the Casa Lovina pop-up on March 7. That’s right — for just one day only, make your way over to Fern Shop on Queen West to get your hands on Casa Lovina’s sustainable offerings that are handcrafted from local artisans in Bali.

Love shopping on Etsy? Well then you’ll want to get yourself over to Nathan Phillips Square on March 7-8 from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. to shop the Toronto Made Market. Admission is totally free and even though it’s starting to warm up here in TO, the event will be located inside a heated pavilion so you can shop comfortably sans your winter parka. Plus, you can even bring your pup if you so choose!

You didn’t forget that International Women’s Day is coming up, did you? Of course not! Celebrate on Thursday, March 5 until Sunday, March 8 by shopping (what could be better?) and supporting local Toronto female-owned brands at this pop-up at Hudson’s Bay. Check out brands like Cardea AuSet, a plant-based beauty and wellness brand; Brunette The Label, a Vancity-based clothing brand all about empowering women; and Evio Beauty, an eco-conscious skincare and makeup company taking clean beauty to new heights.

While many know ARMED for its unapologetically bold, made-in-Toronto jewellery, many have yet to discover the new beauty studio tucked away in the back of the brand’s Parkdale store. Throughout the month of March, ARMEDBeauty will be hosting a series of pop-ups featuring talented beauty professionals — think nail art by Nails By Shayna, lashes by Arch Toronto, and spray tans by BIA. Each event only runs for one day and spots are limited, so book quickly! Reserve your appointment by DMing @upandarmedbeauty.

If books are what get you going, then don’t miss out on scoring them for a wicked deal during the Toronto Reference Library Book Sale that’s on March 19. February can be kind of a gloomy month, I think we can all agree that we’re ready for spring at this point. The thing is, February doesn’t have to be so boring because there are lots of things to look forward to this month – like all of the amazing pop-ups happening! Pop-ups have become the new wave for shopping and we can’t get enough of them. Luckily, Toronto is home to some of the best pop-ups around, and this month is no different. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, looking to discover some new skincare, or get your hands on some tasty treats, there’s a pop-up for you.

Dust of Gods, an internationally renowned sustainable fashion brand by Toronto-based architect Antonio Tadrissi will be popping up at Bayview Village from February 8-21! Dust of Gods is a clothing brand that upcycles pre-loved clothing into luxurious “wearable art”, and the pieces are completely unique. Want your own customized piece? All you have to do is bring in your own item like a jacket, shirt, pair of pants, or a bag and spend over $1,000 and it can get “dusted” on-site.

Looking to shop a more unique market? Head to the Toronto Art Crawl’s Urban Exhibit Market that’s happening on Sunday February 9th. It’s here that you can expect to shop all kinds of fashion, jewellery, and home decor, as well as items from over 50 local artists and designers! To top it off there will be a live DJ performance while the event is happening.

Head to Square One from Thursday, February 6th until Sunday February 9th where L’Oreal will be showcasing its new Revitalift Triple Power LZR products that are inspired by dermatologist procedures. This activation gives folks the opportunity to learn more about their skin and they can also receive a customized skin diagnosis with the brands new technology Skin Genius which launches on February 14.

Want to make this years V-Day extra special? Skip the mall and all of the traditional retailers when shopping for your loved ones for Valentine’s Day. There’s nothing more special than a gift that’s handmade with love – even if you’re not the one making it. This pop-up hosted by the workroom on February 9 will offer not only beautiful handmade goods, but lots of vintage finds, and more!

Head to bluboho Jewelry on Queen West for tasty treats made by The Great Canadian Baking Show contestants Colin Asuncion and Mengling Chen. This pop-up bake shop is running on Sunday, February 9 from 12 – 4 p.m. and you can not only meet the pair but also take home some delicious confections like cookies, tarts, cupcakes, and more.

Who doesn’t love a nice floral arrangement? Just in time for Valentine’s Day, head to The Annex Hotel for a flower pop-up shop with 2PEONIES. Even if you don’t have a significant other to celebrate Valentine’s Day with this year, surprise a good friend or family member with some flowers — better yet, this is another excuse to treat yourself! This pop-up will be offering single-stems, contemporary arrangements, and vases along with gift packaging.

Who doesn’t love a pop-up flea market? The Leslieville Flea is happening Sunday, February 26th and will feature over 50 vendors selling vintage, hand-crafted, and tons of other great finds that you wouldn’t be able to find at the mall. Stop by the pop-up flea market at 28 Distillery Lane for a fun and unique shopping experience, and of course to see what awesome goodies you can find!

If you or a loved one are tying the knot in the near future, then this February Toronto pop-up is for you. Local wedding vendors will be popping up at the beautiful Artscape Wychwood Barns, to help you bring your dream wedding to life! Plus, The Wedding Co. is hosting a Valentine’s giveaway, giving away tickets for the market, plus all entries earn you $3 off their ticket.

It’s back! The Trinity Bellwoods Flea is happening February 23rd at The Great Hall. This flea market will have anything and everything you could want in a market including various food vendors, and you can shop items from plants to jewellery. It’s the perfect way to spend your Sunday, enjoying the multiple new vendors with your friends and family — plus your pup can come too!

If you’ve never participated in a clothing swap, then now is the time! Clothing swaps are truly a fun experience and they’re a great way to meet new people, plus it’s great for being eco-conscious. How this clothing swap works is you bring five to eight pieces from your closet (in good condition) that you want to part with, and ideally you leave with a few new-to-you pieces. The great part about this clothing swap is that if your pieces don’t get picked up by anyone, you can either take them home with you or you can leave them to be donated. This is a great guilt-free shopping experience, plus there will be brunch and music — is there a better way to shop?!

Pop-up exhibits aren’t anything new, but Torontonians and city visitors have more of an excuse than ever to strike a pose.
Instagram-friendly pop-ups happening across the city, and exaggerated props and eye-popping visuals are just a couple of things you’ll be able to enhance your ‘gram with. Whether you’re more of a ’90s fan, a dreamer, or nature lover, there’s a picture perfect installation on this list for you.

Inspired by childhood nostalgia, HideSeek is every ’90s kid’s dream. The pop-up, located at 1305 Dundas St. West, spans 7,000-square-feet and is divided into 12 immersive rooms. From giant bubbles and lego blocks, cereal and cotton candy, each room will make you forget about your everyday adult life and bring out the kid in you! The pop-up is open from now until June 2, and tickets can be purchased online for $25 (+ tax/fees).

If the ’90s aren’t your thing, then hit up a pop-up that’s a little more nature-centric for your next selfie. Visitors can stop by Utopia from now until July 31 for a self-guided tour of the Kensington Market-based exhibit. With 8 rooms — including a rose covered swing, a room full of twinkling lights and umbrellas, a giant clam shell, and more — you’re sure to score yourself a super Instagram-worthy picture here (within a one hour time limit, of course). The organizers suggest purchasing your ticket ($24.99 for adults, $19.99 for students, and $9.99 for kids) online as they limit the amount of visitors per day. Visit the exhibit at 144 Augusta Ave.
A drive to Yorkdale Shopping Centre is worth it if you’re looking to up your Instagram game. Imagined by Toronto-based artist Anthony Ricciardi, the DREAM SPACE exhibit has two parts. When visitors arrive, they’re greeted by an open gallery space where they can shop and browse original artwork by Ricciardi. But hidden in the back is where the Instagram-gold awaits. Featuring 12 large-scale interactive installations, visitors are invited to live out their dreams. Notable installations include a pit full of money, a waterfall of playing cards, and a wall where visitors can share their goals and ambitions. The grand opening of the exhibit is April 12 and it’ll stay open until July. Tickets to the interactive area are $15 (children under 5 are free), but the front gallery is completely free to browse!

This one-of-a-kind experience is a photo-op and dinner in one. Located underneath the Gardiner Expressway at the Bentway, Dinner With A View is a pop-up dining experience that sees guests eat in picture perfect domes with a view of the CN Tower. Dates for the event are limited and tickets are pricey — $149.99 reserves you the dome, while dinner and drinks are sold separately. But if you’re that dedicated to the ‘gram, it’s just a small price to pay. Dinner With A View is in Toronto until May 2.

Canadians love food, and we can thank influences from many places for sharing the exquisite tastes of their cuisines with us. Restaurants have become a big business in Canada, with sales increasing 6.3 percent in 2016, bringing in $80 billion in revenue. Food is now photographed as much as famous landmarks and shared on social media. One major source of our increasing culinary landscape is Los Angeles. Some of the prettiest and most delicious new dishes on the market come from L.A. With the help of Discover Los Angeles, we have uncovered three of the most popular and tasty food trends that have traveled from their sunny climes to Toronto:
1. Veggies as main courses. Many L.A. chefs have changed menus to feature vegetables as the star, with meat as the side dish.
2. Food halls. L.A.’s Grand Central Market, a model for the food hall trend, just celebrated its 100th anniversary. Toronto just welcomed CAMPO, a Spanish style food hall, this weekend, and five more are set to open in the next few years.
3. Gourmet tacos. Toronto has followed L.A.’s authentic taco scene, with taco hotspots such as Grand Electric growing by the day.
Other L.A. food trends will be in Canada sooner than we realize: influences from Nordic cuisines, re-imagined Mexican dishes, South American Chifa; spices such as za’atar, Kampot pepper, and Vadouvan; savory courses with dessert flavors; plant based protein; vegan/nut based spreads, pop ups and takeovers; sipping veggies for green intake; coffee cocktails; Scandinavian spirits and flavors; sour beers, Japanese whisky, and small batch production of wines.
