Canada’s largest design festival TODO18 is coming to Toronto today and bringing over 120 events, exhibits and installations to the city, as well as engaging discussions focusing on such topics as architecture, graphic design and fashion. If you’re into one of these disciplines, chances are this event will blow you away.
For 8 years the festival has been bringing Toronto’s creative community together to celebrate design in a big way. The main idea behind the concept is to take design out of the studio and into the city and make it accessible to the general public.
The festival kicks off today, January 15, with TODO’s Festival Party taking place in the LightForm showroom and warehouse from 7:00 pm — 11:00 pm, where you will be able to see the first installation by a visual artist Jordan Söderberg Mills. According to the artist, the installation is his vision of String Theory, which revolves around ideas of quantum theory, differences between perceptual and objective realities, and reveals unseen dimensions of light and colour.
To celebrate the opening night TODO invited some of the best Toronto designers, architects, artists and craftspeople recognized both nationally and internationally and even DJ’s, (which means dancing will be involved too.) And the best part about the festival is that you can actually interact with all these people face-to-face and learn lots about their concepts and modern art in general, so don’t miss out!
The festival runs from January 15th to January 21st. To find more about the festival schedule, locations and installations, click here.
