Toronto will Get a Toronto Women’s Fashion Week Next Spring

For those sad about the end of Toronto Fashion Week, we’ve got some great news for you. Toronto Women’s Fashion Week will launch its inaugural event in the spring of 2017.

It’s official – Toronto Women’s Fashion Week (TW) will commence on Thursday, March 9, 2017, ending on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. TW has partnered with Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) to hold the inaugural event at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

This comes as a pleasant surprise in light of Toronto Fashion Week’s cancellation this past summer in July. IMG Canada had operated Toronto Fashion Week in collaboration with IMG Fashion since 2012 but organizers canceled Toronto Fashion Week due to a lack of financial support.

And now, opportunities are being given back to Toronto’s talented designers and fashion community.

Among the shows, TW will host a national fashion design competition and runway show, which will recognize designers nationally. The winner will receive an impressive prize valued at $90,000. The prize is comprised of the $30,000 Suzanne Rogers Award for Most Promising New Label, a fully sponsored runway presentation at TW SS18, a feature in FLARE.com and Hello! Canada, plus a professionally photographed and styled photo shoot valued at $30,000.

TW will kick off on Thursday, March 9th with TFI’s 30th Anniversary Gala, followed by the New Labels Competition and Fashion Show.
