If you don’t yet have a Costco membership and you want one – you may want to get on that before the membership fees increase. Costco has announced that as of September 1st, 2024, its membership fees will go up for Canada and the United States.
This is the first price increase on Costco memberships since June 2017. That’s 7 year’s ago!
Individual, business, or business add-on memberships will go from $60 to $65 a year this fall. Along with its higher-tier Executive Membership going up from $120 to $130.
Although there’s no way to avoid the increase, if you’re not yet a member and sign up now, you can avoid it until your yearly renewal. And right now, there’s a limited-time offer going on.
Even though the price increase isn’t anything super drastic, Costco shares that it will affect around 52 million memberships, a little over half of which are executive memberships.
Costco’s Gold Star membership (the most basic option) allows customers to shop at all Costco locations worldwide (there are currently 108 in Canada) and online, shop exclusive offers and discounts, get an annual 2% reward on qualified warehouse, online and Costco Travel purchases, and receive Costco’s magazine by mail. Plus it includes 2 membership cards – for you and someone in your household.
We can only hope that there Won’t be another price increase anytime in the near future!
