While stores like Gran & Toy vanish and Staples moves mostly online, Costco is betting big that their no-frills, bulk-buying strategy will pay off in the business supplies market.
The retail powerhouse is set to launch its first Business Centre store in Toronto this March after seeing success with similar stores south of the border.
The Globe and Mail is reporting that Costco’s Business Centre will try to be attractive to all businesses within a huge range of sectors. From hotels, to small businesses to convenience stores, Costco will provide products for backend business solutions to products stores can stock on their shelves.
With a huge stock of products that come in commercial grade sizes, Costco will be able to offer its shoppers even larger discounts based on volume.
In addition to this new store format, Costco will also focus on a robust e-commerce platform for quick shopping and delivery options.
